Dancing Before the Lord

On an overcast day we took our grand prizes to the Wilderness Experience in Tupper Lake, NY. The kids crawled on the spider web, much to the joy of our 6-year-old spider man.

We walked on the suspension bridges which mysteriously wobbled and swung when Grandpa crossed.

On our foray into the forest,  my fashionista granddaughter had something to offer. A reminder to dance as if no one is watching.

In this little patch of woods, curators installed speakers which are movement activated. Me, I am ok with the music of the rustling of leaves, and the birds’ thrilling trills, and brooks babbling about places they have been, but these speakers play music someone decided reflected life in the woods. I suspect they have never  been in the woods.

It’s unsettling at first, to hear drums beating in the woods, xylophones noting your passing, and celestial voices singing heavenly wordless tunes. Spiderman clung to my hand, made easier by an unidentified stickiness on his hand, my 18-month-old marathoner was happy to be carried by Grandpa Woodsman, but the Princess of All-That-She-Sees embraced it.

“I might need to take off my hoodie,” she proclaimed and placed it quickly on Daddy- the-coat hanger’s outstretched hand.

And she danced, as if the woods and all its contents were there for her. She twirled and whirled as if no one was watching.

Hopefully, no one ever watches me twirl. I am no gazelle. But could my heart and mind and soul dance with that abandon? Can I write and enjoy the joy of putting thoughts into words, even if no one is reading? Can I feel the joy of the Lord and let my heart dance before Him?

Eric Liddell once said, “When I run, I feel God’s pleasure.”

Let’s dance our words, our thoughts, our joy in the moment before the Lord and feel His pleasure, just to feel His pleasure.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. - Isaiah 58:11

Grand prizes are the best! I love to clap when they dance. There is a large wooden plaque in our living space from my mother in loves stay with us. It says leave room in your heart for angels to dance! To me it means stop and enjoy the little joyous moments in each day! Thanks for the reminder.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Ps. 150:6 Your words declare God's divine invitation to dance in His presence!

Indeed! Why wait til we Him face to face? Well of course, I don't dance well but He's OK with that too:)

He tells us to come to Him as little children and dance unabandoned even as adults, like David. There’ll be no inhibitions in heaven!

This is so captivating!!!! The last time I danced like no one was watching, I ruptured my Achilles Tendon! But in my heart I am dancing like no one is watching!

Reply by: Author Maureen Lewicki

Oh No! That's not good! But at least it makes a better story then rupturing a tendon getting out of bed or tripping over a vacuum cleaner. Ask me how I know. Yep, let's hear it for heart-dancing!

Beautifully written. I could see myself there. Note: I really miss dancing!

Bonnie thanks! God also accepts even attempts before His throne. He knows our heart is dancing

A beautifully written memory of an outing with the family and a good reminder that God will constantly direct our steps, providing exactly what we need even during the most difficult, barren times, and giving you physical and spiritual renewal.

Thanks so much. Where would we be without Him?

Well written and carries your point quite well. I’d love to dance that freely. Let’s see what the Lord does in future times!
